Dice Games

Chuck-a-Luck

Three dice are used to play Chuck-a-Luck. The dice are typically placed in a cage that is shaped like an hour glass. This cage is commonly referred to as the bird cage. Bets are placed and the cage is then turned over, causing the dice to fall onto the table. The house collects on specific number combinations that are pre-determined.

Over and Under Seven

This casino game is played with two dice. It holds true to its name as players bet as to whether the number rolled will be under seven, over seven, or seven itself. If a number over seven is rolled, the house pays out even money to bettors who placed their chips on the table section marked over and collects on the bets placed on under as well as seven. If a number is rolled that is under seven, the house collects on the over and seven bets and pays out even money to players who placed their chips into the table section marked under. The house pays out at three to one or four to one if a seven is rolled. Thus, it is less likely that a seven will be rolled but the payoff is greater. There are 21 losing combination for a bet placed on either over or under and fifteen winning combinations. This is called the house advantage. There are 30 losing combinations compared to the six winning combinations possible for making a seven.

Grand Hazard

Three dice are used as well as a birdcage in the playing of this game, which resembles Chuck-a-Luck. There are a variety of wagers that can be made. Players can bet on whether the three dice will total to be 11 or higher or they can bet on the dice totaling 10 or less. However, if triplets (the same number on each dice) are rolled then all players lose and the house collects. Bettors can collect on triplets only if they bet on a triplet to occur. These wagers are less likely to produce a win but payout bigger amounts offset the risk. Players can choose a specific triplet for a very large reward or bet that any triplet will occur as a less risky option.
